BCSA Responsible Welding Coordinator Training Course (RWC)

This course has been designed by BCSA for companies wishing to train their own responsible welding coordinator up to and including Execution Class 2 for UKCA and CE Marking certification.

About the Responsible Welding Coordinator Course

The RWC qualification is a two-stage process:

  • Stage 1 – 2-day residential course ending with a multiple-choice question test
  • Stage 2 – on-site assessment which usually takes place a few months after the successful completion of stage 1.

It is recommended that those wishing to attend the course have reasonable knowledge and experience in welding and welding technology.

The RWC training is held offsite at a conference centre. Numbers are limited to small groups of delegates to ensure everyone attending gets the most out of the two days.

Course content

Over the course of the two days (Stage 1), the content is aimed at providing the technical knowledge required to implement and maintain an appropriate Welding Quality Management System and to prepare the nominated RWC for the end of stage 1 assessment.

The range of topics covered include:

  • Basic Metallurgy (Materials & Welding)
  • Welding process technology
  • Welding Procedure and Welder Qualification
  • Writing Welding Procedure Specifications
  • BS EN 1090-2 and the Requirements for UKCA and CE Marking Standards and Specifications (Various)

Pre-course documentation

In line with the requirements of the course, on receipt of a candidate’s reservation and payment, the RWC review forms will be issued which consist of two parts:

Part 1: to be completed by the company and serves as a declaration of the scope of its manufacturing activities.

Part 2: an authenticated Curriculum Vitae proforma to be completed by the candidate.

Both parts will need to be completed and returned prior to attending the course to verify that the BCSA route and nominated RWC will satisfy a company’s subsequent UKCA and CE Marking requirements.
