Constructional Steelwork Forecasts 2017 – 2020

The consumption of constructional steelwork in the UK is estimated to have increased 4% to 902,000 tonnes in 2016 according to Construction Markets.  This increase in demand came off the back of an 8% rise in structural steelwork consumption in 2015.

In 2017, a small decline in activity will bring structural steelwork consumption back to 897,000 tonnes, followed by increases in subsequent years.  Consumption is estimated to reach 941,000 tonnes in 2020 (the end of the forecast period).

An analysis of the data and a spreadsheet with the forecasts by sector are attached.
