Draft Building Safety Bill

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has published the draft Building Safety Bill, which sets out wide-ranging measures to keep residents of high-rise buildings safe. These include establishing a new Building Safety Regulator within the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to oversee more stringent rules for high-rise residential buildings. The Bill also includes new powers for the government to regulate construction materials. Details of the new Building Safety Regulator and the new powers for regulating both CE marked and non-CE marked construction products are given in the attached AMM.
