Earlier in the year BCSA received reports of structural steelwork for High Speed Two (HS2) being awarded to a French Steelwork Contractor. BCSA wrote to Mr Mark Thurston, CEO of HS2, the Prime Minister, the Chancellor and Grant Shapps expressing BCSA’s concerns and asking about the minimum level of UK content in HS2. This lobbying resulted in an article published in today’s Financial Times titled ‘Steelmakers rail at foreign sourcing in contracts to build HS2‘ and a question raised yesterday in the House of Commons. Further details are given in the attached AMM.
