New fabrication and welding guide for high strength steels.

The BCSA has released a new publication titled: High Strength Steels for Structural Applications: A Guide for Fabrication and Welding.

In the last few years there has been an increase in the use of High Strength Steel in the steelwork sector with specified minimum yield strengths greater than 355 MPa, the traditional upper limit.

The publication provides guidance for the welding and fabrication of high strength structural steel grades up to 690 MPa which covers the scope of 7th Edition of the National Structural Steelwork Specification.

The guide addresses questions concerning available product forms, steel grades, manufacturing routes, weldability, welding process selection, consumable selection and fabrication considerations including thermal cutting, forming and heat treatment.

Electronic copies of this publication can be obtained at a cost of £25 for members and £50 for nob-members from: https://www.steelconstruction.org/shop/high-strength-steels-for-structural-applications-a-guide-for-fabrication-and-welding/
