Republic of Ireland Manufacturing PMI – December 2015

New orders rise at sharpest pace since July at end of 2015

Business conditions in the Irish manufacturing sector continued to improve at the end of 2015. Moreover, new orders increased at the sharpest pace since July, leading to growth of output, purchasing activity and employment.

The seasonally adjusted Investec Purchasing Managers’ Index® (PMI®) – an indicator designed to provide a single-figure measure of the health of the manufacturing industry – rose to 54.2 in December from 53.3 in the previous month, signalling a solid improvement in the health of the sector that was the most marked since July. Operating conditions have now strengthened in each of the past 31 months.
