On Wednesday, the Trade minister Liz Truss MP said the government has accepted the proposal from the Trade Remedies Authority to retain the quotas and tariffs for 10 categories of steel products for three years and to revoke the tariffs and quotes for the remaining nine steel products. However, in a last-minute decision Liz Truss also said that the government will introduce a public notice to launch a temporary extension of the tariffs and quotas on a further five of the 19 steel products. Details of the steel products for which quotas and tariffs still apply and those steel products for which the safeguard measures have been revoked are given in the attached AMM. A copy of the Public Notice is also attached.
