The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has extended the campaign of inspections on fabricated metal businesses across GB to check that they are managing the risks of welding fumes and metalworking fluids.
Inspectors will be checking that businesses are complying with the guidance to manage the risk of respiratory diseases. The campaign was planned for between May and September 2021 to ensure duty holders know the risks, plan their work and have adequate control measures in place to protect workers’ health.
Inspectors will now continue visiting fabricated metal businesses across GB until 31st March 2022.
So far during the campaign in 2021 the HSE has visited over 1,000 premises. The HSE has also found the campaign a useful experience for training of the new Inspectors which is another reason for extending the campaign into next year.
